ABOUT
My work moves between the digital and the tactile: there’s a time for technology, and a time to get messy, covered in paint, and connected to the physical world.
I grew up without TV in Santa Cruz, CA, so most of my childhood was spent raising tadpoles, experimenting in the kitchen, and making art. I wanted to be a professional ballerina, so I trained like crazy, traveled a ton, and ended up hanging out in many chiropractor and doctors' offices. I loved the infographics on the walls, but it wasn't until my senior year of college that I realized you could do that as a job.
After switching from ballet to biology, I moved to Panama and worked in conservation ecology with the Smithsonian. Though I loved being immersed in the scientific world, I saw the importance of being a liaison between the scientific community and general public.
With that in mind, I moved to Providence to get a certificate in Natural Science Illustration, then Boston to work as a Curriculum Illustrator for Tufts School of Medicine's Center for Science Education. Wanting to expand my technical skillset, I did a masters in Medical Visualization and Human Anatomy with a focus on interactive application design. Following that program, I ran the animation department for a surgical video journal. Since then I've freelanced across industries, with illustrations selected for awards at the World Congress of Surgery, and web designs facilitating remote teaching.
I love hearing about new ideas and am always open to potential collaborations.
